Tarta Relena was founded in 2016 by two singers who explore a cappella various styles of vocal music, using the Mediterranean region as their contextual reference. Their repertoire ranges from traditional music to singer-songwriter compositions, with experimentation as their hallmark and the combination of vocal techniques as their creative driving force, unafraid to push the boundaries of the sacred and the profane. In Tarta Relena’s arrangements, the distinctly different timbres of the two voices coexist with the synthetic sounds of electronic instruments and samplers. They always seek complexity in simplicity and aim for maximum expression with the minimum elements.
At CAN REON, Tarta Relena presents their new album “Es pregunta“. The album embarks on a conceptual journey through themes of fate, knowledge, and the struggle to reconcile our future selves with present realities. Influenced by Mediterranean folk, Georgian laments, and the mystic works of 12th-century visionary Hildegard von Bingen, Tarta Relena crafts a vibrant sonic world where the past and future converge.
